The cloud platform for anything
Magento is an e-commerce platform that offers everything you need to start and manage your online business. It also gives you the power to create unique and engaging shopping experiences.
Magento also offers you a wide range of tools to increase traffic, sales and interaction with your customers. You can also take advantage of the included SEO tools to increase web traffic from search results.
Some of the options that you can discover with Magento, you have the option to modify the metadata of each of your pages, sitemaps and absolute control of URLs. Developments
The development of Magento officially started in early 2007. Seven months later, on 31 August 2007, the first beta version was released to the public.
In May 2018 it was announced that Magento would be acquired by Adobe with the vision of integrating it into Adobe Experience Cloud. The acquisition was finalised on 19 June 2018.
More than 250,000 merchants worldwide use the Magento Commerce platform, representing around 30% of the total market share.
17 November 2015 saw the biggest code update with the release of Magento 2.0.
- Notably, the latest enhancements that were showcased at the MagentoLive Australia Event on February 13, 2019, these enhancements are designed to spur innovation and enable merchants to get to market faster with the superior, end-to-end shopping experience that today's consumers demand.
Fast upgrade functionality: New modular features will allow brands to upgrade faster, scale up and take advantage of enhancements such as PWA Studio, Multi-Source Inventory (MSI), and Page Builder more quickly. MSI is the first of these modules available and will enable distance-based inventory source selection and improved performance for mass management.
Create and deliver differentiated shopping experiences: Marketers play a more integral role in online content development and require access to powerful tools to continuously design, test and lunch new content. PageBuilder, the powerful drag-and-drop editing tool for site content, enables the creation of best-in-class shopping experiences without creative limits or the need for developer support.
Offer global shipping options: Merchants can now make shipping a more attractive part of the shopping journey. Expanded global availability in 37 countries with support from DHL, FedEx, UPS and other trusted regional carriers helps merchants execute their cross-border commerce strategies. New versions of Click & Collect offer consumers more delivery options to increase conversion.
Optimise performance and usability: Performance and scalability enhancements enable businesses to scale faster, including the ability for B2B and B2B2C businesses to support a large volume of company accounts with 30 times the number of associated addresses. The enhancements also reduce the time spent processing orders within the administration interface and enable larger, higher quality product images to be uploaded without compression.
The release also includes significant security enhancements and updates to the latest payment and shipping APIs to ensure bullet-proof operation.
